Role Summary
The Systems Engineer provides advanced systems design, development, integration, and maintenance support for intelligence customers (e.g., NGA) on Windows, Unix, and data center systems. The role ensures high availability, reliability, and security of IT infrastructure, and supports both day-to-day operations and complex troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities
Perform systems design, integration, and development in Windows and Unix environments
Maintain and troubleshoot IT systems, network devices, and infrastructure
Resolve escalated hardware, software, and network issues
Design, configure, test, and maintain operating systems and network components
Integrate new technologies and manage system migrations/transitions
Conduct preventive and emergency maintenance of data center equipment
Ensure systems comply with security guidelines (STIG) using tools like Retina and HBSS
Create and maintain SOPs, configuration records, and operational procedures
Develop scripts for Windows, Linux, and Solaris systems
Liaise with vendors and internal IT personnel for problem resolution
Provide on-call support and respond to after-hours emergencies
Required Qualifications
TS/SCI Clearance required; eligibility for CI Poly
Bachelor's degree + 10+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Security+ or DoD 8570 Level II certification within 90 days of hire
Experience with UNIX, Windows, and/or Storage systems
Familiarity with trouble reporting and tracking systems (e.g., Service+)
Ability to prioritize tasks in high-pressure environments
Ability to lift/move equipment (up to 40 pounds) and tolerate various environmental conditions
Desired Qualifications
Experience in imagery intelligence domain
Knowledge of customer production systems and processes
Skills in Windows Server, Red Hat, IRIX, Solaris, Sybase, Informix, SQL, and imagery production chain
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $131,800 – $290,000
